SignEdge: An Au Contraire Wine

Wine labels are really a new art form. With so many good to very good wines available at very reasonable prices, vineyards need a way to catch the eye of the prospective buyer.

I suppose a very bright label might spark an interest in one type of customer while a more subtle, but still clever label might attract another personality type.

As for me, I enjoy any wine label that is “different” which brings me to today’s SignEdge label from the Taub Family via the Russian River Valley.

Here is the back label which is somewhat hard to read, but I think you will get the idea that they are proud of David. S. Taub, the company’s founder.

You can read some of the history and story behind the wine at Palm Bay International.

Have Icon, Will Travel

Someone has done some interesting thinking to help travelers in a clever and unique way. If you have ever visited a foreign country where you had no understanding of the language, this might be just the item for you.

Why not wear a shirt with icons representing cultural places in a specific country and other items that might be universally understood?

Just to give you an idea, here is a world edition T-Shirt.

To locate a bus stop, you could politely stop someone on the street and point to the icon of the bus. Most people, I believe, would get the idea and assist you.

Below is a shirt targeted specifically to those who will be stopping in Paris (Notice the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe).

The company has a video to add a bit of levity to their sales pitch.

If you visit the ICONSPEAK website, you can see that they have a variety of styles, colors and targeted countries.

Video: Visa’s Monkey Business Commerical

This is one of the most clever commercials I have seen in a long time. It isn’t like some of those inane commercials by a few companies who shall rename nameless. Someone working for Visa actually thought long and hard about this one and executed it well.

I think you will really like it!

Video: Line Riders – Beethoven’s 5th

I think everyone will enjoy this ultra creative cartoon-based version of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. Most people may be familiar with the music because it has been used hundreds of times in movies, advertising, etc.

What sets this apart from other creative endeavors is the painstaking timing of the cartoon “line riders.” They are amazing and mesmerizing. Do yourself a favor and watch this.

From the YouTube Web Page

I spent over 3 months synchronizing a line rider track to Beethoven’s 5th drawing everything by hand.

Any time a character leaves the screen they are being directed by unseen lines to the next location.

This is not the full length of the piece. I spliced together parts to make it possible for me to finish the project in a practical amount of time. I don’t think my sanity could handle 3 more months of this song.

YouTube post processing seems to create a few millisecond audio delay if you are watching on the mobile YouTube app. If you notice this, watching the video in any web browser won’t have this problem.

SignEdge: Days of Covid-Confusion

During this time of isolation and social distancing, there is bound to be a bit of confusion, but it is always good to keep in mind that we often had moments of confusion before the Coronavirus…

Some days I amaze myself. Other days I look everywhere for my keys and find them in my hands.
