Funny Pictures: Trees Eat!

With all of the intense weather, volcanoes, etc. we really don’t need any more proof about the power of nature. Mother nature does what she does sometimes in spite of the efforts of mankind.

One example of this is the behavior of trees. I have seen examples of this when I have been hiking, but I haven’t seen any as extreme as the one pictured below.

A tree face created by nature’s indomitable will!

SignEdge: Feeling Tipsy?

Feeling Tipsy – Tip Jar at a local sports bar

What makes this sign rather “different” is that it serves as a double entendre since the picture was taken at our local Tailgaters Il Primo sports bar/eatery. Do you get the double entendre? I hope so because I think it is quirky!

Photography: Animal Silhouettes or People

As readers of JBRish know, photography is one of my hobbies and it is very interesting to me to find that there are so many subsets of photography for specialists.

Did you ever try to take a good picture of food? It is harder than you might think. Look at a couple of recipe websites and notice how interesting and wonderful most people manage to make the ingredients and finish serving appear.

Besides food photography, there are the more popular categories of landscape, portraiture, travel, etc. Of course there are some very unique categories as well such as astrophotography, medical photography and street photography just to name a few.

Then there are those photographers who are just very creative in what they do. I have often come across an interesting photograph and wondered: “Why didn’t I think of that?” And then again, even if I had, there is a world of difference between thinking of something and the doing. The photograph below is an example.

The only information I could gather is that this photograph was taken to support animal adoption. Some consider it an example of optical illusions. I just think it is pretty darn clever.

Have you seen any interesting photographs that were extremely creative? If so, why not provide that information in a comment for all readers to appreciate?

UP-itty

It’s easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?

Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends.

And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen.

We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning:

People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.

We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary.

In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.

If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used.

It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don’t give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more

When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.

When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.

When it doesn’t rain for awhile, things dry UP.

One could go on and on, but I’ll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP,
so…….it is time to shut UP!

Now it’s UP to you what you do with this email.

When Graduation Is More Like Halftime

From the YouTube video site:

Class song & “Kaipahua Kura

For those of you who messaged me for more info:

This is the senior class of 2015 at Kahuku High School located in Hawaii more specifically the North Shore of Oahu. The seniors learned this number in 2 days…they did a great job.

@8:43 they performed the “Kaipahua Kura” which is their very own “Haka” or “war dance” from the Maori people of New Zealand.

Kahuku High is a very culturally diverse school with lots of school spirit and pride. Good luck to them!”

Let’s salute the students, teachers, parents and advisors who had the courage to be different!

Congratulations Kahuku Class of 2015

The Talking Centipede

A single guy decided life would be much more fun if he got himself a pet.

So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet.

After some discussion, he finally bought a ‘talking centipede‘ (a 100-legged bug), which came in a little white box to use as a house.

He took the box back home, found a good spot for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him.

So he asked the centipede in the box, “Would you like to go to church with me today? We will have a good time.”

But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked again, “How about going to church with me today to receive blessings?”

But again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation.

The guy decided to invite the centipede one last time.

This time he put his face up against the centipede’s house and shouted, “Hey, in there! Would you like to go to church with me and learn about God?”

This time, a little voice came out of the box, “I heard you the first time! I’m putting my shoes on!”
