This twenty minute (+/-) video shows how the persistence of one horse and her spirit to keep on trying gave courage and faith to a segment of the people of Japan during a very difficult time. Everyone loves a winner, but in this case the horse that wouldn’t win captured everyone’s heart. This short movie has garnered praise from several film festivals. Narrated in Japanese with English subtitles, the video is quite interesting.
We have had several cats as pets and anyone who has had a relationship with a cat can tell you that there is definitely a type of “yin and yang” to that relationship. Most cats, and this included ours, are fairly aloof although they do like attention when they want it and on their terms.
Cats can be very funny as they show tremendous courage on one hand and can be afraid of their shadow on the other. We do find them to be lovable as long as one can accept their distant character. (This is a generalization and of course there are exceptions!)
The video below shows members of the Italian Coast Guard resuscitating a kitten that was in danger of drowning. While it looks more like a wet rat during the recovery phase, the other pictures show how cute it is.
These coast guardsmen should be commended for showing such humanity in giving a high level of importance to this relatively incidental life when compared to the human trauma they see on a daily basis. This is one lucky kitten!
Every once in a while something special and unplanned happens. You can call it serendipity or call it fate; I call it interesting. Humans have taken control of the world and created buildings and structures of all sorts. I have often wondered what the other animals “think” of these man-made creations they may come across.
The video below shows a hawk inspecting a weather station. There seems to be significant interest on part of this bird of prey. It is not often we capture videos like this.
From the 10/11 News Weather Team’s Facebook page – “Nobody probably thought they would see something like this today. Our friend, Mr. Hawk, is VERY interested in the camera atop our tower at 40th and Vine in Lincoln, NE today!”
Most readers will probably be too young to remember lava lamps and their somewhat hypnotic appeal. Much like trying to harness a pool of mercury this seal moves gracefully through a school of fish which manage to swirl in fluid patterns while making way the seal.
I think you will find this one minute (+/-) drone video interesting if not fascinatign. The surfers surrounding the ongoing ballet additional notes of interest.
For all those who have ever owned a dog that they loved or for anyone who enjoys petting other people’s dogs, this video is for you! If you have had a faithful companion that is now departed and all you have is fond memories, this will bring back many emotions.
Watch a few games of pickleball and you will notice that a significant number of players do not keep their paddle in the up and front position. Each and every top player/coach I have watched encourages players to keep the paddle up and in front of them. Prem Carnot (The Pickleball Guru), Coach Mo, Deb Harrison and Sarah Ansboury are all proponents of this fundamental stance.
Sarah Ansboury is one of the best pickleball players in the world, winning many medals in the tournaments she has entered. In the video below she describes an interesting technique for trying to assure that you keep your paddle up and in front of you for the best chance to return the ball with a good stroke.
Watch the video below and see if this works for you!
In Summary:
Keep your paddle out in front of you
Point the paddle toward each and every ball while it is in the up position
This technique will keep a player alert and engaged

The National Parks are certainly one of America’s great treasures and I have taken advantage of visiting as many as possible while I am still able to trek the trails and see the sights.
One park that I really enjoyed despite the fact it rained every day we were there was the Grand Teton National Park. Even in the inclement weather, there was an abundance of beauty. We hiked in rain and mud and windy conditions; it was amazing.
This video captures the grandeur of the Grand Teton National Park. I hope you enjoy it and are as impressed with it as I was.
After playing pickleball for a while, one generally learns to control the ball by being able to place it in a certain area of the opponent’s court. As time progresses some players develop more precision with their placement, but knowing generally how to get the ball within a certain area is a big step in advancing your game.
In this episode, Deb Harrison adds variation to placement by demonstrating how to redirect a shot and sometimes surprising the players on the opposite side of the net. There might be times when the shot so surprises them, that it delays their reaction and helps to win the point.
Pay particular attention to the angle spins demonstrated in the video. They can be devastating to your pickleball opponent.

If you followed my Photography Conundrum Series, you know that I have an interest in the Fuji X camera system and I have been holding out for the upcoming update to their flagship camera, the Fujifilm X-T1, i.e. X-T2.
Krista Rossow, former photo editor at National Geographic Traveler Magazine, is featured in the video below in which she explains how she found photographic freedom during her travel to southeast Asia using the Fuji X-T1 as her main camera.
The video is very enlightening for someone like me who is interested in a mirrorless camera, but more importantly, there are many good ideas about travel photography included.
I think you will not only enjoy the photographs, but you will also pick up some interesting tips and hints along the way.
