The video below captured in the Peruvian Amazon explains the relationship between several varieties of butterflies and the turtles that provide them with a very important resource. Do you know what it might be?

I found the video below quite mesmerizing and I think you will as well. I have to admit up front that I am a bird person. I enjoy casual birdwatching and photographing the wide variety of avian creatures nature has gifted to us.
What makes this video so interesting, in my opinion, is not only the exotic variety of intriguing, colorful, tropical hummingbirds, but also the slow motion style that reveals their elegant movements.
ALSO…please read my note below.

I have to admit that I am not as good as I once was when it comes to naming and locating foreign countries on a blank map of the world. At one time, during my 30s-50s, I could probably name and point to a majority of the countries in the world. Once the Soviet Union broke up and new countries were formed, I just lost track. I admit, I should now know more than I do about world geography, but I do know a fair amount. I would venture to say I am at least average if not a bit above.
On the Jimmy Kimmel show the other day, they stopped people and asked them if they could identify just one country on a map of the world. I was surprised that there seemed to be a significant number of people who could not name and point to one foreign country. Some managed to name continents, but very few could identify a single country.
There is one bright exception in the video below; hence the title of this post!
Obviously, the video was edited and most likely they were very selective in the portions of the recordings they chose to include. I will leave it up to JBRish readers to draw their own conclusions.
Ahem! How many countries can you name?
Notes from the YouTube Video Page:
“Donald Trump is overseas visiting Belgium, England, Scotland and then his pal Putin in Russia. It is imperative that America has strong relationships with and knowledge about other nations, and that responsibility extends to all of us. So we came up with a test and went out on the street to ask people passing by, to name any country on a map. It didn’t go well.”

Donald Gould was homeless for a numbeer of years and when Sarasota, Florida placed several pianos around town, he sat down and played. What happened next is hard to believe and ALSO shows how fate can intervene to help turn a life around. The Internet and modern communications played a pivotal role.

Faamai wants Lek to sing a lullaby to baby elephant, Thong Ae
While I was meeting with visitors, Faa Mai suddenly intruded our talk with clear intent. She pushed me along out into the field, directing me somewhere and I wondered what it was that she really wanted. Finally FaaMai took me to see the little Thong Ae, whom she wants to adopt as her own. In the end, it sees as if FaaMai wanted me to lullaby her little friend, as she is so fond when i sing a lullaby to her. It is so beautiful to see my little girl who has such a heart of care. I am so proud of this girl ! at Elephant Nature Park.

Why incompetent people think they’re amazing! – David Dunning
The video below explains how the Dunning-Kruger Effect distorts the ability of some people to accurately assess their skill level in a certain area. As the video explains, one study found that 88% of Americans rated themselves as “above average” drivers. This is mathematically impossible of course.
Watch the video below to understand this effect and how it might alter your abilities to accurately assess your various skill levels.

I think most people, whether or not they are cat lovers, will laugh at the video below depicting a cat “watching a horror movie.” I don’t know exactly what the cat was looking at, but the pacing, editing and sound effects will bring a chuckle to everyone!
If you are a cat lover, then hands down, you will appreciate this short clip.

While the beginning of this video may seem funny in a Chaplanesque way, the message is anything but humorous. This is part of the “It Can Wait” promotion to encourage people not to text when it can be harmful to themselves or others. This public service announcement was created by the Western Cape Government, South Africa.
It is short, to the point and powerful!
Texting and walking is difficult enough just watch the video!
