Pickleball – You Make the Call – 20151209

Team A serves the ball and team B returns it short. A player from team A then softly hits the ball into the NVZ and the ball barely clears the net and before it can hit the floor, it hits the center base of the portable net on team B’s side and rolls away without anyone making a play.

Does team A or team B score a point? If not, what happens? Is there a pickleball rule that covers this?

Let us hear form you in the comments section. The answer will be provided in a follow up post!

My Homage to Trees

Trees have always been magical or should I say mystical to me. My first true relationship with a tree was with that of a large chestnut tree in the Bronx, NYC. It was near our elementary school and grew tall alongside a hill we used for sledding in the winter and for rolling down in cardboard boxes in the spring and summer.

I was very young, perhaps seven years old. It was a very large tree as I remember and the chestnuts were a beautiful; a rich dark brown and so very smooth. Each Chestnut pod held two rather large half-domed seeds that were shiny and precious.

I was in further awe of nature when I realized that a huge oak tree could be brought forth from the growth of a small, seemingly innocuous acorn.

I agree with Joyce Kilmer. Trees are very special. The video below is an ode to trees. It ushers forth many of the feelings I have toward these living sentinels who retain their footholds at the behest of man.

Padel – Pickleball or Racquetball on Steroids

Padel is a relatively unknown sport and although I get many blank stares and “huhs?” when I mention pickleball, I find that less people know about padel which is popular in Spain and other countries around the globe. Watch the video below and decide if you would like to try it.

See (below) how some of the best players in the world play the game. Notice how they can go outside the court and hit the ball back into the court to keep it in play!

Christmas or Not, Photographs Preserve Memories

Photographs have the power to transport the viewerback to times gone by. All of the shoe boxes, cigar boxes or drawers full of photographs contain a lifetime or many lifetimes of memories. Flipping through a photo album or passing old pictures around enables us to re-live memories we declare personally precious.

Below is a video that reminds us of the ability of photographs (or videos for that matter) to help us recall our past.
