Every once in a while a tale appears about a kindred spirit of one sort or another. This is a true story about a dog who had a rough start in life, but had a need for friendship. He was full of wanderlust and was hard to keep home. Although he apparently loved his adopted family, his heart was much bigger than that and he had more to share with everyone.
Every day for more than a decade, Bruno walked four miles to a nearby town where he made regularly scheduled stops and visited with as many people as he could.
Watch the heartwarming video below for more of the details about how Bruno became a home town hero!
As a former elementary school principal, I would enthusiastically support the creativity and excitement embodied in Mr. Reed’s “Welcome to the 4th Grade” video. I would be excited to be a student (or parent of a student) in the class of any teacher who puts this much energy and creativity into a welcome video. I wish Dwayne Reed and his students much success.
From the YouTube Video Channel:
“Published on Aug 20, 2016
Instead of sending out the boring, old, “Welcome Back” newsletter, Mr. Reed, a first year teacher from Chicago, wrote a rap song for his 4th grade students, and recorded a music video to go along with it! The song and video emphasize the reality that hard work is a must, but that school and learning can certainly be fun!”
This twenty minute (+/-) video shows how the persistence of one horse and her spirit to keep on trying gave courage and faith to a segment of the people of Japan during a very difficult time. Everyone loves a winner, but in this case the horse that wouldn’t win captured everyone’s heart. This short movie has garnered praise from several film festivals. Narrated in Japanese with English subtitles, the video is quite interesting.
Did you hear the one about the photographer and the bear?
This video relates to two areas in which I have a significant interest; wildlife and photography. It seems far-fetched, but this wild bear saunters up to an area where a photographer is taking photos near a river and sits down only a few yards away. The bear soon becomes bored as evidenced by the yawn. Although bears have a brutish reputation, this particular bruin was very calm and collected.
I have to admit that the photographer was pretty calm as well!
We have had several cats as pets and anyone who has had a relationship with a cat can tell you that there is definitely a type of “yin and yang” to that relationship. Most cats, and this included ours, are fairly aloof although they do like attention when they want it and on their terms.
Cats can be very funny as they show tremendous courage on one hand and can be afraid of their shadow on the other. We do find them to be lovable as long as one can accept their distant character. (This is a generalization and of course there are exceptions!)
The video below shows members of the Italian Coast Guard resuscitating a kitten that was in danger of drowning. While it looks more like a wet rat during the recovery phase, the other pictures show how cute it is.
These coast guardsmen should be commended for showing such humanity in giving a high level of importance to this relatively incidental life when compared to the human trauma they see on a daily basis. This is one lucky kitten!
Every once in a while something special and unplanned happens. You can call it serendipity or call it fate; I call it interesting. Humans have taken control of the world and created buildings and structures of all sorts. I have often wondered what the other animals “think” of these man-made creations they may come across.
The video below shows a hawk inspecting a weather station. There seems to be significant interest on part of this bird of prey. It is not often we capture videos like this.
From the 10/11 News Weather Team’s Facebook page – “Nobody probably thought they would see something like this today. Our friend, Mr. Hawk, is VERY interested in the camera atop our tower at 40th and Vine in Lincoln, NE today!”
For all those who have ever owned a dog that they loved or for anyone who enjoys petting other people’s dogs, this video is for you! If you have had a faithful companion that is now departed and all you have is fond memories, this will bring back many emotions.
The National Parks are certainly one of America’s great treasures and I have taken advantage of visiting as many as possible while I am still able to trek the trails and see the sights.
One park that I really enjoyed despite the fact it rained every day we were there was the Grand Teton National Park. Even in the inclement weather, there was an abundance of beauty. We hiked in rain and mud and windy conditions; it was amazing.
This video captures the grandeur of the Grand Teton National Park. I hope you enjoy it and are as impressed with it as I was.
This poignant video is only four minutes long, but it should remind us to be considerate of others. Everyone is dealing with their own world of issues.
