Ear Jacket – Are Your Lobes Cold?

Maybe as a guy I am not supposed to know this or perhaps it’s my seniordom that gives me an excuse, but has anyone noticed that earrings are changing? I understand there is a style around now called the (get this) ear jacket. Don’t take my word for it. Search that phrase on the Internet and you will hear plenty about them. I never knew that ears could have jackets. Sometimes, as I understand it, they can also be called “cuffs,” but lets not confuse the issue too much.

Here is the anatomy of an ear jacket:

The part pictured as “A” is what would have been a regular earring in years past. Now this is just the part that holds the item to the ear, but instead of being a plain backing as before, it is now decorative and faces front.

The item pictured as part “B” is called the jacket. This is the showiest part and would have been a stand-alone earring once upon a time.

Perhaps it is better explained by the Telegraph UK as “… an extended earring back that surrounds the bottom of your ear, neatly slipping on to the stem of any stud.”

As far as fashion goes, I am way behind the trends!

A Matter of Perspective – Eiffel Tower

Let’s face it some of us are just not skilled enough with Photoshop to remove or add certain items from pictures without making it look very amateurish.

I guess Sid Frisjes felt a bit intimidated by wanting to have a forced perspective picture of himself and the Eiffel Tower so he posted the picture below on line and asked:

“Can someone photoshop the eifeltower under my finger? [sic]”

Can You Believe Your Eyes?

Zach King specializes in “Vines” – six-second videos that capture a particular segment of time. These short episodes joined together will demonstrate to viewers why one cannot always believe what they see. Don’t ask me how these were done. Just sit back and enjoy the video magic that will trick your eyes in most of the short sequences.

Thanks to Zach for making these mesmerizing videos and sharing them with us. One thing I would like to know is: “Who cleans up the mess left behind in many of these sequences?”

The Talking Centipede

A single guy decided life would be much more fun if he got himself a pet.

So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet.

After some discussion, he finally bought a ‘talking centipede‘ (a 100-legged bug), which came in a little white box to use as a house.

He took the box back home, found a good spot for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him.

So he asked the centipede in the box, “Would you like to go to church with me today? We will have a good time.”

But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked again, “How about going to church with me today to receive blessings?”

But again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation.

The guy decided to invite the centipede one last time.

This time he put his face up against the centipede’s house and shouted, “Hey, in there! Would you like to go to church with me and learn about God?”

This time, a little voice came out of the box, “I heard you the first time! I’m putting my shoes on!”

Photography-Video Fun

I think anyone who is interested in Photography or Videography will enjoy and appreciate this short video. It is catchy, fast-paced and delightful.” For more information and to understand how it was made, see the original website posting at PetaPixel

I have always been fascinated by Kaleidoscopes and, as mentioned below, this video employs similar techniques!

“Photographer and film director Naren Wilks created this mind-bending music video by arranging DSLRs around a circular green screen room. When the perspectives of the cameras are combined and synchronized, a ‘rotationally symmetric, kaleidoscopic world‘ is created… Only 5 people were involved in the production of the music video.”

Cat Crazy

Kitty Carlisle

Kitty Carlisle’s Favorite Activity

At one time we shared our life with a cat. She was a wonderful pet and there were moments that she was cute beyond belief and other times when she was very exasperating for nothing more than acting like the cat she was. I have never seen an animal sleep more or be more afraid of the smallest object. Bags and boxes were two of her most favorite toys. For those who love their cats like we loved her, I offer the video below:

Too Many Things – Seinfeld and the culture of possessions

Around this time of the year when many presents are exchanged and loved ones receive tokens of love called gifts, this short monologue by Jerry Seinfeld reminds us that there may be too many “things” in our lives. While this is humorous, there is some truth to what he has to say. I think you will be able to identify with some of the concepts he explains.

NOTE: The funny part starts at 1:13 seconds into the routine.
