********** Pickleball Etiquette **********

NOTE – This pertains only to a small group of our pickleball colleagues and it is not a widespread problem, but it has happened to several people recently.

Apparently some players who had signed up to play with a certain group of players had their name moved to another position without their consent.

Kindly do not take it upon yourself to remove a player from one position and place them in another position on the sign up form/white board. DO NOT do this without asking the person if they would like to be moved.

Some may make the assumption that a player would better “enjoy” a match with another group. That is not their call.

If you want to match up with a group of players and there is no place for you, ask one of the players in the group if they would mind being moved to another match. Please do not assume that it is OK with them to be moved.

Thank you!

Analysis of a Professional Pickleball Point
********** by Mark Renneson **********

From the YouTube Page:

Mark Renneson of @Third Shot Sportsbreaks down this pro pickleball point between Morgan Evans and Jessie Irvine at the 2019 Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships in Indian Wells, CA.

Some important points:

  • The team of Morgan Evans and Jessie Irvine is stacking (both players on the same side of the court during serve, etc.)
  • Professional serve with pace!
  • Note why Jessie Irvine does not rush to the net and lingers in “no man’s land” for a while.
  • Both players approach the net together to avoid leaving a gap in their coverage.
  • Notice that when they hit the ball, they area watching the ball hit the paddle.
  • Some Pros, men and women, use a two-handed backhand.
