Trunks of love

Those readers who follow my blog, know that I am a student of and have an interest in photography. At one time I worked as a professional photographer, but now I enjoy it as an enthusiastic hobbyist.

My interest has led me to follow a number of photographers via the Internet. I review dozens of articles each day and one of my latest reads was “Preparing for a Safari Trip to Afric.” This essay had many fine photographs and hints for those who want to embark on a photographic safari to Africa. You are certainly welcome to visit the site and read the article. If you are only interested in the photographs, you will be equally rewarded.

One such photograph that I found particularly poignant, is the baby and mother elephant below. These beautiful and noble creatures are under pressures from poachers and deserve our attention. I think they are majestic and worth protecting.

Pickleball – Improving Your Game No Matter What Your Level

I hope you had a chance to visit the Pickleball page noted at the top of the home screen of JBRish.com. If you are interested in learning more about the game and the strategy involved, I suggest you visit Prem Carnot’s, The Pickleball Guru website. While you are there, you might want to sign up for his free newsletter to get more timely tips and hints delivered to your inbox.

His latest newsletter talks about going back to the basics when your game isn’t working for you. Here is one point he makes:

Go back to the basics: As your game develops, so does the complexity of your game. Remember, pickleball is not tennis nor is is it racquetball or any other paddle sport. It has it’s own personality and it’s own set of go-to shots that produce winning points. Instead of making the game more complex, consider making it more simple. Complex shots have a higher percentage of not working, but you can still win points with the most basic of dink shots.

Soleri Bell

One of our favorite places to take visitors is Cosanti, the gallery and studio of Italian-American architect Paolo Soleri that was his residence until his death in 2013. Several months ago, we purchased a Soleri Bell that now hangs on a shepherd’s hook off the patio. It is crafted of bronze and metal, and has a deep rich tone. Wind storms sometimes necessitate taking the bell down; but most of the time it hangs happily in the desert sun, and is visited frequently by birds that perch on the hook. https://arcosanti.org/cosanti
