Video – Music Made Solely with Wine and Beer Bottles

One of the wonderful things about the Internet is that it allows others to share their extraordinary talents with millions of others who have access to cyberspace. Many of these talented people would go unheralded and we would miss out on some truly amazing skills and perhaps some that are a bit bizarre.

I had never heard of the Bottle Boys who can make music using only beer and wine bottles. The only way I can make music is via radio or other music-playing technology so I really do admire them.

Not only does the music sound like a cross between the Native American flute and the pan, but watch the rhythmic motions and style that these players exude; truly entertaining.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! You may have found it on JBRish, but it definitely is not gibberish!

Hi everybody! Once again it is time for BOTTLE MONDAY (last monday [Sic] of the month) which means, that a new video is released! We are so excited for this one, because we simply just LOVE Michael Jackson. Billie Jean is a really great song and it is perfect for trying out our new technique: double bottle playing. The dentists don’t recommend this we can assure! ;-D

Nerdtalk: We decided to make the video in a church because of the nice reverb. For recording we used two Neumann km184 stereo mics with Apogee Duet 🙂

At the moment we are insanely busy with a lot of concerts (a lot of them abroad), mainly because of our youtube [Sic] videos, and for that we are truly grateful!! So thank you everybody for supporting us:-D

Video – Releasing a Large Cougar from a Trap

I can remember when I was a youngster and I visited the Bronx Zoo and saw the lions and tigers. These were massive animals and when they let out a roar, it was deep-throated and loud! Anyone standing in the large cat exhibit could hear that sound and feel the power of it.

This video shows two game wardens releasing a cougar from a trap that was intended for either coyotes or bobcats and while it isn’t as large and deep-throated as the lions and tigers I described above, you can see that it is a very powerful animal and these rangers are taking risks in working to release it. As you will witness, it is not an easy task!

Here is a small part of an interview with one of the rangers:

“Ekins said he responded to a call to help release a cougar in the Pine Valley Mountains Dec. 17. He said it was one of the largest cougars he has ever had to release from a trap, and so he decided to film the incident.”

Rembrandt With An Asterisk

The video below raises some interesting questions about the nature of art and who or what is an artist. A group of computer scientists had Rembrandt’s paintings analyzed by computers. The computers crunched the data and determined what elements were part of a typical Rembrandt painting. Once the information was thus analyzed, the computer was tasked with creating a Rembrandt painting of its own.

The result was quite remarkable and perhaps anyone who was an art scholar would declare that it was a heretofore unknown Rembrandt. The video, The Next Rembrandt, is very interesting in both concept and the questions is raises.

The Venus Flytrap is one of nature’s cunning predators even if it doesn’t have a brain!

Barn owls are very pretty and unusual-looking creatures. This short video shows two young barn owls being raised from chicks by humans and now need to learn how to fly. Luna, the older, is first to experiment with flight. The unique head movements are curious and look at the size and sharpness of the talons!

Ocean photographer Thomas Peschak has long been concerned about the envirionmental impact the world’s population has had on ocean life. At one time he sought to shock audiences into action to protect the ocean and all forms of its life. Today, however, he teaches them to love the ocean life and appreciate the inter-connectedness we have with the ocean and in that way, people will be motivated to work to save the oceans from destruction.

In the video below Peschak takes us into several of his favorite realms and lets us explore why they are so unique and vital. Included in the video are a variety of sharks, manta rays, dolphins, whales and special ocean-related geographical locations. I think you will find this fascinating.

Video – Mother and Child Reunion – Puppies

This momma dog was brought to the Marin Humane Society to be surrendered and put up for adoption. The workers quickly realized that this dog must have recently had a litter and they contacted the original owner and convinced them to bring the babies to the shelter to be reunited with their mother.

The video depicts the happy reunion of mother and pups!

I think the best move would have been to bring them to the shelter together, but nevertheless, they are together now!

Photography – On the Rocks, Off the Rocks

When we were hiking along the coast of Northern California, there were warning signs about “rogue waves” and advisories not to turn your back on the ocean. There is a good reason for this as indicated in the video below. The ocean is unpredictable. Don’t put yourself or others at risk for the sake of photography.
