Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards – 2015

Photography – Comedy Wildlife Awards

Did you know there was a wildlife comedy award for photographers? I’ve heard of a number of National Geographic photography contests and awards, but wildlife comedy?

Well, here are some of the submissions:

THE WINNER
– This little “fella” has a full mouth with pouches stuffed nearly to capacity. Perhaps they ordered out for dinner and s/he is running home with the delivery

Hamster with stuffed pouch

These two aren’t monkeying around. They are obviously getting ready for Dancing with the Stars!

Frozen Kitten is Life in the Raw via Go Pro

I enjoy photography because it enables me to capture a moment in time that will never be exactly the same again. Videography, however has not appealed to me, but when I see footage like the video below, I appreciate how a live action cam enables us to witness life in its raw form.

Although this is an advertisement for GoPro, let us assume that it is true and because of that provides the viewer with a first-hand glimpse of nature, emotion, caring and human kindness. That’s the key phrase,; “first-hand!”

From the notes accompanying the video:

Published on Dec 14, 2015

“On a cold Thanksgiving morning, Branden Bingham and his family stumbled upon a seemingly frozen kitten buried in the snow. In an attempt to save his life, they rushed inside and began performing CPR on the lifeless cat. ”

Answer: Pickleball – You Make the Call – 20151209

QUESTION: Team A serves the ball and team B returns it short. A player from team A then softly hits the ball into the NVZ and the ball barely clears the net and before it can hit the floor, it hits the center base of the portable net on team B’s side and rolls away without anyone making a play.

Does team A or team B score a point? If not, what happens? Is there a pickleball rule that covers this?

Let us hear form you in the comments section. The answer will be provided in a follow up post!

ANSWER: The ball is considered a let and the point must be replayed. Rule 12.J.5 states: “If the ball goes over the net and then hits the center base or the ball gets caught between the net and the horizontal bar before touching the court, it is a let and must be replayed.” (page 37 – IFP Official Tournament Rulebook, April 24, 2015)
